GoSaath

Privacy policy

Last updated September 2026

GoSaath is built to need as little about you as possible. This page describes exactly what we hold, who can see it, and what we deliberately do not collect.

What we never collect

These are design decisions rather than settings, and they apply to every account:

What we hold

What other people can see

Other commuters see a deliberately small amount about you: your first name, your photo if you added one, whether you hold the verified badge, and the general area you travel from.

They never see your full name, your email address, your exact location, or anything about your other matches.

Your mobile number stays hidden until a seat request is accepted. Before that, nobody can see how to contact you. Afterwards it is visible only to the person you agreed to travel with.

Why we hold it

Your institution email confirms you belong to the community you are matched within. Your commute and your area are what the matching compares. Your number lets somebody you have agreed to travel with reach you.

We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with data brokers. GoSaath contains no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking of any kind.

Your institution

Administrators at your own institution can see accounts belonging to that institution in order to run GoSaath there — for example to review a verified badge or act on a report. Every such action is recorded against the administrator who took it.

They cannot see accounts at any other institution, and they cannot read your messages, because GoSaath has none.

Blocking and reporting

Blocking is silent. The other person is never told, and cannot tell whether you blocked them or simply stopped travelling.

Reports are reviewed by our team and shared with your institution where the matter warrants it. We never tell the person you reported that you were the one who reported them.

Trip sharing

If you share a trip, the person you send the link to sees the day, the times, your campus, the area you travel from, your driver's first name and a partly hidden number plate. They do not see where you are — there is no location in it, because GoSaath holds none. The link expires after the journey and you can stop it at any time.

Keeping it and deleting it

We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account from Settings in the app, which removes your profile, your commute and your vehicle details.

We keep a limited record of reports and safety decisions after deletion, because removing them would let a removed account return unnoticed.

Children

GoSaath is for university students and staff and is not intended for children under 13. Accounts can only be created with a verified institution email address.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who can see it, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
